North Carolina is located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and is one of the states in the southeastern United States. The state is bordered by South Carolina to the south, Georgia to the west, Tennessee to the west and Virginia to the north. Because of the height differences of up to 2000 meters from the Atlantic Ocean to the mountains in the west, there are also very different climate areas: subtropical climate at the sea and subarctic climate in the west. The mountain range belongs to the Appalachian Mountains with the Great Smokey Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Black Mountains are the highest mountains in the eastern United States. The highest peak is Mount Mitchell at 2037 meters. Check act-test-centers for 4-year colleges and universities in North Carolina.
