Only in the south does the Lower Peninsula have national borders with the states of Ohio and Indiana. The Upper Peninsula shares a land border with Wisconsin in the southwest. The remaining borders are formed by Lake Michigan to the west towards Illinois and Lake Superior towards Minnesota.
